A southern inspired garden wedding at Bryn Du Mansion

Rachel and Stephen’s outdoor wedding at Bryn Du Mansion had all the charm and style of a classic southern inspired garden wedding. Because Rachel spent her post-college years living in Atlanta, she wanted to bring the romantic aesthetic of the south to her big day. Bringing a bride’s vision to life through design is a favorite aspect of my job, and this was no exception. Read on to see how photographer Addison Jones captured the heartwarming details designed for this central Ohio wedding.

designing the details

Drawing inspiration from the Magnolia trees of the south, the couple chose a green and white color palette, accented with tawny gold and blush. Lush florals and fresh peaches wowed wedding guests at long white farm tables in an untraditional silk tent. Consequently, Rachel + Stephen’s garden wedding at Bryn Du truly stands out from the crowd.

southern inspired bridal look

Throughout the decor, touches of magnolia evoked Southern charm. Pictured above are escort cards calligraphed on magnolia leaves. In addition, the invitations (designed by the groom!) and programs featured the southern bloom, as well as the ceremony floral designs.

a touching garden ceremony

Romantic garden style florals played up the bride’s stunning gown from La Jeune Mariee. Similarly, long silk ribbons from The Lesser Bear provided the perfect touch to the bouquets by Evergreen Floral. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen wore floral ties for a pop of color alongside their classic navy suits.

Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the day took place during the ceremony. Following vows, Rachel + Stephen took a moment to step beyond the lush ceremony arch to pray and take communion privately.

Confetti cannons ushered the newlyweds down the aisle in a stunning ceremony exit.

While guests mingled, Short and Stout served delicious southern inspired cocktails between giant trees on the mansion property.

the gorgeous southern inspired reception

If you’re looking for elegant but relaxed inspiration for your summer wedding, stop here. Without a doubt, Rachel + Stephen’s reception was full of gorgeous southern garden inspiration.

First, we enclosed the space in an open-air silk tent with greenery chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. After that, gold flatware and gold-rimmed china topped long, whitewashed farm tables. Likewise, the florist placed organic floral arrangements and cascading greenery down the length of the table. Finally, we styled fresh peaches, strawberries and champagne grapes into tiny gold bowls on the table, resulting in the ultimate summer garden appeal.

Organic summer floral designs included garden roses, cosmos, and ranunculus. Pops of blackberry vine made for a particularly fresh take on summer wedding florals.

southern inspired garden wedding portraits to swoon over

Rachel + Stephen slipped away during sunset for an unforgettable wedding portrait session with Addison. Their portraits in a secluded part of the Bryn Du gardens especially remind me of old romance movies. However, my favorite photo of the day is the one below, capturing the new family as they join hands together. All in all, it was a beautiful wedding full of southern charm and joyful laughter, but the love between Rachel + Stephen and their new blended family made it truly exceptional.
