A southern inspired garden wedding at Bryn Du Mansion

Rachel and Stephen’s outdoor wedding at Bryn Du Mansion had all the charm and style of a classic southern inspired garden wedding. Because Rachel spent her post-college years living in Atlanta, she wanted to bring the romantic aesthetic of the south to her big day. Bringing a bride’s vision to life through design is a favorite aspect of my job, and this was no exception. Read on to see how photographer Addison Jones captured the heartwarming details designed for this central Ohio wedding.

designing the details

Drawing inspiration from the Magnolia trees of the south, the couple chose a green and white color palette, accented with tawny gold and blush. Lush florals and fresh peaches wowed wedding guests at long white farm tables in an untraditional silk tent. Consequently, Rachel + Stephen’s garden wedding at Bryn Du truly stands out from the crowd.

southern inspired bridal look

Throughout the decor, touches of magnolia evoked Southern charm. Pictured above are escort cards calligraphed on magnolia leaves. In addition, the invitations (designed by the groom!) and programs featured the southern bloom, as well as the ceremony floral designs.

a touching garden ceremony

Romantic garden style florals played up the bride’s stunning gown from La Jeune Mariee. Similarly, long silk ribbons from The Lesser Bear provided the perfect touch to the bouquets by Evergreen Floral. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen wore floral ties for a pop of color alongside their classic navy suits.

Perhaps one of my favorite moments of the day took place during the ceremony. Following vows, Rachel + Stephen took a moment to step beyond the lush ceremony arch to pray and take communion privately.

Confetti cannons ushered the newlyweds down the aisle in a stunning ceremony exit.

Short and Stout Mobile Bar wedding ideas

While guests mingled, Short and Stout served delicious southern inspired cocktails between giant trees on the mansion property.

the gorgeous southern inspired reception

If you’re looking for elegant but relaxed inspiration for your summer wedding, stop here. Without a doubt, Rachel + Stephen’s reception was full of gorgeous southern garden inspiration.

First, we enclosed the space in an open-air silk tent with greenery chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. After that, gold flatware and gold-rimmed china topped long, whitewashed farm tables. Likewise, the florist placed organic floral arrangements and cascading greenery down the length of the table. Finally, we styled fresh peaches, strawberries and champagne grapes into tiny gold bowls on the table, resulting in the ultimate summer garden appeal.

Organic summer floral designs included garden roses, cosmos, and ranunculus. Pops of blackberry vine made for a particularly fresh take on summer wedding florals.

southern inspired garden wedding portraits to swoon over

Rachel + Stephen slipped away during sunset for an unforgettable wedding portrait session with Addison. Their portraits in a secluded part of the Bryn Du gardens especially remind me of old romance movies. However, my favorite photo of the day is the one below, capturing the new family as they join hands together. All in all, it was a beautiful wedding full of southern charm and joyful laughter, but the love between Rachel + Stephen and their new blended family made it truly exceptional.

Summer garden inspired wedding in Columbus, Ohio

Kathleen and Braden were such an incredible couple to style for. From the start, Kathleen hoped for a summer garden inspired wedding in the alleyway of Via Vecchia. With a green and white color palette, we set out to bring her vision of a summer garden inspired wedding to life.

First, Katie Reed of Old Slate farm used mock orange and unripe strawberries to create the perfect early summer vibe. Likewise, I opted to print Kathleen’s wedding signage on handmade cotton paper. I then mounted it to linen for a particularly fine art appeal. Finally, we added fresh greenery and florals to the signage to evoke a summer garden vibe. I especially loved the table numbers, complete with sprig of olive.

Read on to see how Katie’s vendors produced a gorgeous, garden inspired wedding in the middle of downtown Columbus, Oh. You’ll love Henry Photography’s beautiful images of Kathleen and Braden’s wedding day.

Noah + Abigail’s romantic midwest summer wedding

Narrowing down the photos for Abigail + Noah’s blog post was nearly impossible, I just love this little lady and her family so much (and now her husbands family, too!) She first saw Noah at a mutual family friend’s wedding. The two were 17 and in High School- but Abigail still remembers to this day what he was wearing: a black suit and a light green tie (of course he chose something a bit more streamlined for their wedding day.) Abigail’s vision for the aesthetic of their wedding day was simple and sweet with a bohemian vibe; lots of greenery with moody touches here and there, and it came together beautifully. Read on to see some of my favorite details from their day, including a cool plot twist to their planning!

I loved Abigail’s sweet words about her wedding day when I asked her what her favorite part was.

“I loved absolutely everything of the wedding, but I would have to say one of my favorite things of the day is seeing what God had in store for our wedding day. 3 months prior to the wedding we ended up switching venues from a beautiful barn church due to feeling led that we were to get married somewhere else. My family, sisters in laws, and mother in law paired with God & just traveled around the small town of Upper Sandusky to see where our wedding would be. It was such a fun process to rely on guidance from God completely! Hannah ( my sister in law & the photographer of the wedding ) sent many ideas of places that would be fun to try, this included: the museum in upper, an alley, & the park. Noah and I had complete peace over the venue situation and I remember saying a prayer about where God would want us to get married to glorify Him & a field came to mind. No coincidence we ended up marrying in a field at a golf course 🙂 Crazy how God works!”

Such an amazing story- and the wedding truly reflected the joy this amazing couple had found in each other and in God’s purpose in their life! Each time I remember it it brings happy tears to my eyes. Congrats Abigail + Noah!

rockmill brewery summer wedding

Brides will love this Rockmill Brewery Summer Wedding

Nick + Allie’s bohemian summer wedding in Lancaster Ohio

Brides, you will love this Rockmill Brewery summer wedding. First of all, Rockmill Brewery is one of Central Ohio’s best wedding venues, hence it was the perfect locale for this bohemian summer wedding. Because Allie has incredible taste (she’s a store director for Madewell) packing her wedding full of unique details was essential. Bespoke white farm tables, dancing in the grass, and eating churros out of pretty paper cups are just some of the details that elevate this wedding above the rest.

It’s all in the wedding details

Due to the wedding being at the end of August, we chose to infuse the day with “back to school in the 70’s” vibes here and there. Their seating chart was made from a letter folk letter board, and stadium marquee cards were used as table numbers.

We decided against using any specific wedding color palette, opting instead for black and white, accented by greenery. For that reason, Adria from State + Arrow incorporated whatever colors felt right into the floral designs.

Read on to see how Allie + Nick’s full team of vendors made their wedding an unforgettable, magical night.

A friend of the bride and I collaborated on these perfect watercolor wedding invitations. Aggie turned my simple watercolors into incredible, hand-lettered works of art!

Table assignments were listed on this unique seating chart on a letter folk letter board. It was probably one of my favorite details due to its obvious nod to the back-to-school season.

An alternative to wedding cake that complimented the taco bar menu? Churros! Conclusion

Above all, these two sweet souls wanted to put their value of a Christ-centered marriage above any other detail. Seeing this wedding featured in The Knot was amazing, however I am more thankful for the lifelong friendships formed with Allie and her vendors as a result.  Its why I love what I do!

Love + Light- a Styled photographer’s workshop at Jorgensen Farm’s Oak Grove

I was beyond thrilled when Ashley West and Allison Leonard approached me about styling their Love + Light  photographer’s workshop. These two women have a heart to share and teach their craft to their fellow photographers, and it was such a joy to see them caring for the creative community in Columbus in that way.  Check out their photos from this amazing day below…StyledShoot-132StyledShoot-28To showcase the two beautiful spaces at Oak Grove, we chose to split the shoot into two seperate looks. An elegant traditional  style was chosen for inside the white barn, the bride wore a satin gown from B.Loved Bridal, and we opted for a classic tuxedo for the groom. The tablescape reflected a more traditional style as well: featuring a linen table cloth accented by a gorgeous velvet table runner hand sewn and dyed by local fiber artist, The Lesser Bear.

StyledShoot-93In the greenhouse space of the venue- we chose a more bohemian, summer hothouse vibe.

Signage was made with copper sheeting and hand aged to achieve that perfect greenish hue.

IMG_1456IMG_1010The tablescape outdoors featured an unexpected color palette- combining peach and blush tones with yellows, copper, and sea glass. The Lesser Bear created beautiful taupe silk napkins and a shibori dyed table runner, as well as hand making the beeswax candles! The menu from Cheerup Press tied it all together, featuring a moth and a hand painted deckled edge. IMG_1389The bride’s stunning hair and makeup by Angie Warren Artistry and Sarah W. from the Bride BarIMG_1014Stunning peachy florals from Heather at Evergreen Flower Co. in Columbus, Ohio.IMG_0922-2One of my favorite details- the paper goods from Alaina at Cheerup Press. Waite for Us- Ben + Kara, a classic garden-inspired wedding at the Columbus Athenaeum

I can’t begin to express how much I loved working with Ben + Kara for their wedding day. Their love for each other is so sweet, deeply rooted, and evident in every part of their planning and throughout the event. Out of their love for their Alma Mater, Ohio State, the couple chose a palette of scarlet + grey, but accented it with pinks, peaches, and greens to create the perfect summer color scheme. Their Buckeye pride was sprinkled throughout the rest of the day as well- Carmen Ohio was played during the ceremony, and Kara + Ben were surprised with a visit from the OSU Alumni marching band as well! Here are just a few of my favorite details from such a wonderful day- all provided by their amazing photographer- Susie Marie Photography (be sure to check her out!)View More: http://susiemariephotography.pass.us/waite-for-usWe wanted to honor Ben’s request for an invitation that wasn’t overly girly. The result was this sweet and simple monogrammed invitation in black and white- with colorful envelopes to give it an extra pop, and a watercolor floral envelope liner- which you can see here.  The overall vibe of the suite was dubbed “Wes Anderson at a garden party” (and Ben and Kara were BOTH happy.)View More: http://susiemariephotography.pass.us/waite-for-usView More: http://susiemariephotography.pass.us/waite-for-uspronoviasgowndetails.jpg
