Ophelia inspired fine art portrait

Painting inspired wedding design for fine art loving brides

Influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite movement of the late 19th century, our team set out to inspire fine art-loving brides. We looked especially to later works by these artists, where 14th century style meets romantic English poetry. Together with some of the best central Ohio wedding vendors, we developed this stunning painting-inspired wedding design.

Captured on film by Jenna Powers, gorgeous fine art inspiration abounds in well curated details. Read on for more inspiring details of this fine-art inspired editorial.

Carefully curated, painting inspired wedding design: the details

A color palette of mauve, peach, and toasted pecan set the tone for an early fall wedding. In addition, pops of smokey lavender make the color scheme work for warmer weather, worthy of indian summer weddings. Consequently, the colors will inspire fine art and romance loving brides alike.

For brides seeking painting-inspired wedding design, Cheer Up Press came up with the perfect invitation suite. The wedding invitation features an antique crest design and trendy wax seal on handmade paper. And, drawing inspiration from leather-bound manuscripts, it includes a stunning letter-pressed leather piece. Brides looking for unique wedding invitations will be inspired by this gorgeous stationary set.

Painting Inspired Florals and a Unique Table setting

The captivating floral designs were a true star of this painting inspired wedding editorial. The designs feature an abundance of beautiful texture; black tomatoes and celosia provide an edgier aesthetic, while the addition of garden roses and cosmos soften the look. The lavish wedding bouquet was even more stunning in person. Katie’s creativity sets her apart as one of central Ohio’s best wedding florists.

To add rustic touches to the table setting, we used 19th century cutlery and heavy stone plates. In contrast, a rich wool gauze table-runner and delicate lavender glassware modernized the look. A light and airy floral arrangement subdued the overall look of the table-scape. Finally, black tomatoes and quail eggs added modern, quirky charm.

A gilded wedding cake, covered in fruit and adorned in quail eggs, alludes to the pre-raphealite’s commitment to naturalism.

Odylyne the Ceremony’s “Olivia” gown provided the perfect blend of simplicity and romance. It heightened the drama of the dark and romantic Quarry Chapel when paired with a classic mantilla veil. Finally, the bouquet was given dramatic floor length silk ribbon from The Lesser Bear.

Angie Warren did an incredible job translating our painting-inspired wedding design to the bridal hair and makeup. She first beautifully braided our model’s long red hair, then gently tousled it to give it an “undone” look. She then applied dewy, minimal makeup to mimic the look of Rosetti’s “Beata Beatrix” painting, and Baz Luhrmann’s “Romeo + Juliet.”

French altar candelabras served as a base for this stunning installation from florist Katie Carothers of Old Slate Farm.

Dreamy painting-like aesthetics

Probably my favorite moment of the shoot was this enchanting water scene. Inspired by paintings of Ophelia, we submerged our model in cool waters. The swirling silk and flower petals framed her beautifully in the water. The delicate lace robe from designer Girl and a Serious Dream looked dreamy immersed below the surface. Finally, the invitation clutched underwater captures the dream-like quality of this editorial. Above all, this styling decision is one of my favorite creative risks taken as an artist. This painting-inspired wedding design is sure to captivate and inspire fine-art loving brides everywhere.

Hamilton Musical wedding inspiration in Columbus, Ohio

Hamilton the Musical is coming to Columbus, Ohio. Rejoice!

Confession- I’m obsessed with the Hamilton musical. Because of that, I wanted to give other “Hamilton” obsessed brides modern, fine-art inspiration. I wanted to give them ideas they could incorporate in their own weddings. A group of talented, like-minded wedding vendors in Ohio joined me, and together we retold the Hamilton story through the lens of modern wedding planning. The results are unbelievably romantic. In fact, this Hamilton Musical wedding inspiration is one of my favorite creative wedding projects to date!

Read on to see how this wedding editorial captures the feel of a modern wedding and the surreal feeling of Revolutionary America brought to life by Hamilton on stage.

Hamilton inspired wedding details

First, we chose a color pallet inspired by the musical: a neutral parchment color for Hamilton’s excessive writing, revolutionary American blues, and the tawny brown of Hamilton’s post-military coat. We also included the different colors associated with the Schuyler sisters. There are teal and robin’s egg blue for Eliza, rich pink for Angelica, and gold and yellow for Peggy.

For fun, Alexander and Eliza appear on place cards (with Angelica… and Peggy.) As if in preparation for a toast, there is a vignette with “may you always be satisfied” inscribed on parchment. One of Alexander’s letters to Eliza is written out and paired alongside a quill pen. Hamilton’s wedding was in December of 1780. Our team curated antique Colonial pieces like a dressing mirror, English china, bone dice, a fan, and a musket to reflect that date. To keep it fresh, we joined these true antiques with period-inspired modern pieces, such as the engagement ring from Susie Saltzman and the beautiful handmade silk cravat from the Lesser Bear.

Hamilton inspired Florals

The ladies of State + Arrow and Old Slate Farm are responsible for the amazing florals. Both florists looked to American Colonial paintings for Hamilton Musical wedding inspiration, and used flowers that would have actually been available to Colonial brides. In order to honor the Hamilton’s December wedding date, floral designs included pomegranates and persimmons.

State + Arrow’s lush arrangements are imbued with the romance of the Hamilton story. A sweeping bouquet adorned with a wide silk ribbon is the envy of any bride. Meanwhile, viewers are transported to another world by the stunning installation of greenery and florals by Old Slate Farm. To create this look, Katie installed a tree in her living room to build from. Without a doubt, the florals from this day are some of the most stunning creations I have ever seen.

The dress and models were directly inspired by the musical and traditional colonial style. The Carolina Herrera dress was the perfect blend of modern simplicity and elegant colonial details. Our Eliza’s white hair color was trendy and modern, but also reminiscent of the powdered wig styles of the period.

Juniper Rooftop Wedding Inspiration- gorgeous ideas for 614 Brides

Gorgeous, Audrey Hepburn Inspired Bridal Editorial for Juniper Rooftop in Columbus, Ohio

As seen on Green Wedding Shoes

This wedding editorial was designed to inspire brides with the stunning view of the Columbus Skyline from Juniper Rooftop.  Along with Adria from State + Arrow, we set out to create gorgeous Juniper Rooftop wedding inspiration for our local 614 brides.

We started with a warm and feminine color palette to soften the crisp, architectural feel of the space at Juniper Rooftop. Hues of rose, yellow, burgundy and blush evoked the vibe of a rooftop party in spring. A blush colored satin gown, paired with classic hair and makeup were utterly romantic. The hand painted cake was also the perfect nod to modern, romantic style.

Finally, Adria’s circular floral centerpiece was probably one of my favorite parts of the shoot. Due to the airiness of the design, it allowed for a perfectly framed view of downtown.

Cozy, authentic wedding inspiration in Columbus, Ohio

Cozy, authentic wedding inspiration for a heartfelt gathering

When Eva from Eco Flora asked if I’d like to do an editorial inspiration shoot at Anderson Farms, I was ecstatic. Anderson Farms is a beautiful property in Granville, Ohio and a wonderful setting for any heartfelt wedding or gathering.  The owners are kind and authentic people, therefore we wanted the scene to reflect the type of gathering one would find in their home: warm, cozy and authentic.

The color palette of saffron and blood orange perfectly complimented the lush greenery covering the table.  A glistening slice of citrus fruit at each place setting symbolized the transition from winter to spring. The pop of color against the white plate adds a bright, graphic element to the table design.

Love + Light- a Styled photographer’s workshop at Jorgensen Farm’s Oak Grove

I was beyond thrilled when Ashley West and Allison Leonard approached me about styling their Love + Light  photographer’s workshop. These two women have a heart to share and teach their craft to their fellow photographers, and it was such a joy to see them caring for the creative community in Columbus in that way.  Check out their photos from this amazing day below…StyledShoot-132StyledShoot-28To showcase the two beautiful spaces at Oak Grove, we chose to split the shoot into two seperate looks. An elegant traditional  style was chosen for inside the white barn, the bride wore a satin gown from B.Loved Bridal, and we opted for a classic tuxedo for the groom. The tablescape reflected a more traditional style as well: featuring a linen table cloth accented by a gorgeous velvet table runner hand sewn and dyed by local fiber artist, The Lesser Bear.

StyledShoot-93In the greenhouse space of the venue- we chose a more bohemian, summer hothouse vibe.

IMG_0892Drawing inspiration from sweet summer gardens, southern peach farms, and the wear and tear of natural elements- the color story for both shoot featured Copper and Verdigris (the greenish patina that aged copper developes.) Signage was made with copper sheeting and hand aged to achieve that perfect greenish hue.

IMG_1456IMG_1010The tablescape outdoors featured an unexpected color palette- combining peach and blush tones with yellows, copper, and sea glass. The Lesser Bear created beautiful taupe silk napkins and a shibori dyed table runner, as well as hand making the beeswax candles! Greenhouse wedding inspiration in Columbus, Ohio

Last spring, some of my favorite creative vendors and I teamed up to create earthy, greenhouse wedding inspiration in Columbus, Ohio. Our desire was to give brides inspiration to bring the outdoors in, therefore the McCullough greenhouse provided the perfect setting.

First of all, we wanted to work with an unexpected take on the traditional spring wedding color palette. Because of this, we used shades of blush pink and pale blue, along with pops of mimosa yellow and deep burgundy. As a result, we created an environment so lush and romantic, no one would have guessed it was a blustery snowy day!Greenhouse wedding inspiration, greenhouse wedding columbus ohiogreenhouse wedding inspiration, greenhouse wedding, columbus ohio wedding
